Dovedale: KS2 Residential, Day 1/ Class 1 Day trip
Following the tradition of previous years, Day 1 of the KS2 residential at Dovedale also provided the perfect opportunity for Class 1 children to join us for a day out in the beautiful setting of Ilam Park. The weather was not at all as bad as forecast by the time we arrived, so we were all able to eat our packed lunches in the garden of Dovedale House, walk across the parkland to the church and then along the River Manifold, passing St Bertram's well and playing a spot of Pooh Sticks on the bridge, along the way.
Once we had waved goodbye to Class 1, all the KS2 children unpacked and settled into their dorms with great excitement. While the weather was still fine, we enjoyed a super walk up Bunster Hill, across the fields to the River Dove where we followed the river to the stepping stones, and then traced our way back along a slightly lower route.
After a marvellous home-made tea of spag bol, salad and arctic roll, we climbed into pjs for a Mr Bean movie session, followed by hot chocolate (complete with squirty cream and marshmallows, of course!) before heading to bed - our first night away.
